Nick is a certified Grades 7-12 Teacher of Social Studies and he received his B.A. in History and Secondary Education, his M.Ed. (Masters in Education), and his Supervisor’s Certificate all from Montclair State University. Nick has served as both a high school history teacher and social studies supervisor for the district he is currently employed by. During his time in his current district, Nick has taught all levels of American History, including the AP US I course, and singlehandedly built up the social studies program at the K-8 level, with a strong emphasis on "Understanding by Design" and 21st Century skills. Aside from his experience in his current district, Nick has taught for many high-level learning centers and tutored AP US History students to a 90% score of a "5" and a 97% score of at least a "4". Nick comes from a family with a tremendous stake in education. Nick's mom served nearly 20 years on their local Board of Education, and Nick's brother, sister, and future sister-in-law are teaching in New Jersey and will be integral parts of this academy.
Kathleen is certified in K-12 Math and K-8 Elementary Education, and she holds a provisional certificate in Special Education. She received her B.S. in Math (with a Minor in French) and her M.A. in Counseling (Concentration in Student Affairs/Higher Education) all from Montclair State University. Kathleen spent the first portion of her teaching career as a middle school and high school math teacher. During her stints at these two levels, Kathleen taught Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and so on. Although Kathleen has moved on from the classroom to her ultimate passion, college counseling, she still tutors students from Grades 5-12 consistently. Whether she is helping a student prepare for the SAT or trying to boost a student's average in Geometry, Kathleen is always ready to share her math knowledge. Like her husband, Kathleen comes from a family with a strong stake in education. Kathleen’s dad has served as the business administrator in many districts throughout the state.
